Sleep Apnea Devices

Everyone needs their beauty sleep. Sleep apnea is a condition that affects millions of adults and prevents them (and often others) from getting the restful sleep the deserve. Dr. Kimberley Daxon and Dr. Kenneth Grundset offer removable sleep apnea devices, also known as snore guards or night guards.

A careful examination is performed to determine if you are a candidate for a sleep apnea device. Dr. Kim Daxon and Dr. Ken Grundset take into consideration your symptoms and evaluate your condition before prescribing treatment.

Patients who suffer with sleep apnea, stop breathing repeatedly during their sleep. There are three causes of apnea, obstructive, central or mixed. Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is the most common, this is where there is a blockage of the airway usually cased when the soft tissue in the back of the mouth collapses during sleep.

A sleep apnea dental device is an oral appliance used to correct problems associated with sleep apnea. Sleep apnea dental devices are typically reserved for patients with mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The snore guard works by keeping the airway more open either by moving the lower jaw forward, by preventing the tongue from blocking the throat or by a combination of the two. Dr. Daxon and Dr. Grundset work closely with patients to find a comfortable and effective position for the patient to alleviate symptoms.
