    Cosmetic Fillings & Inlays

Cosmetic Fillings & Inlays St. Pete

Inlays & Cosmetic Fillings in St Petersburg

    What are Cosmetic Fillings?

Cosmetic dental fillings are tooth-colored fillings made from durable material called composite resin. Cosmetic fillings are an excellent replacement to silver amalgam (metal) fillings. Composite resins are a synthetic material, available in a rainbow of tooth colored shades to match natural teeth.

Cosmetic fillings are the standard in modern dentistry because they offer:

Natural Looking Results – With a wide range of tooth-colored shades, composite tooth fillings are virtually invisible.

Strength and Durability – Dental composites are made of a strong and durable synthetic resin.

Protection – Composite fillings protect your teeth from further decay by sealing cracks and cavities.

Safety and Comfort – Many people have metal sensitivities and report having a metallic taste from traditional amalgam fillings. And while there has been no conclusive evidence, there is concern among some of mercury toxicity.

    What Are Inlays?

An inlay refers to a restoration that is bonded within the center of a tooth and is also known as indirect fillings. Dr. Kim Daxon uses inlays as part of a conservative treatment plan for patients who have tooth decay, teeth that are damaged or worn. Inlays work to make the tooth stronger by holding it together, at the same time, maintaining the look and feel of natural teeth.

    Inlays have many benefits:

    • Minimal Tooth Preparation Required
    • Natural Looking and Feeling
    • Strengthen Weak or Damaged Teeth
    • Stain Resistant
    • Easy Care and Maintenance
    • Shields and Protects the Tooth

    Inlays vs. Cosmetic Fillings

Dr. Kim Daxon can help you determine if you are better suited for inlays or cosmetic fillings. Each restoration has its unique purpose and set of benefits. In general, fillings are performed for minor decay and small cavities while inlays are reserved for more significant damage. In some cases, the decay is significant enough that it requires an onlay or a dental crown to protect the tooth and restore function. In addition, inlays typically last longer than cosmetic fillings because they are made of durable materials like gold and porcelain.
